2. Information QuietDigest™ Handles

QuietDigest™ may handle the following categories of information in order to function:

• text that you intentionally highlight or select on a webpage
• the title and URL of the current webpage when needed to support the extension experience
• extension settings, preferences, and locally stored application state
• technical requests needed to download model files, runtime assets, updates, or related resources required for local operation

3. How QuietDigest™ Uses Information

QuietDigest™ uses information solely to support its core functionality, including:

• generating summaries from text you choose to process
• displaying summary output in the extension side panel
• storing your local preferences and extension state
• downloading and loading model or runtime assets required for local functionality

4. Local AI Processing

QuietDigest™ is designed so that its core summarization functionality runs locally on your device rather than by sending your selected text to a remote cloud AI inference service for processing.

This local-first design is intended to support a more private and controlled user experience.

5. What We Do Not Do

We do not sell your personal information.

We do not use the text you choose to summarize for advertising purposes.

We do not intentionally maintain a remote database of your selected text or generated summaries as part of QuietDigest™'s core functionality.

6. Third-Party Infrastructure and Dependencies

Although QuietDigest™ is designed for local summarization, it may rely on third-party infrastructure to download model files, runtime assets, updates, or related resources needed for local operation.

When such requests occur, the relevant providers may receive technical request information in the ordinary course of delivering those resources, such as:

• IP address
• request metadata
• standard browser or network information needed to serve requested files

These providers may include browser, hosting, repository, or model delivery services such as Google Chrome infrastructure, Hugging Face, GitHub, or similar providers, depending on the resources required by the extension.

Your use of those third-party services may also be governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

7. Local Storage

QuietDigest™ may store settings, preferences, and operational state locally using Chrome extension storage or other browser-supported local storage mechanisms.

Information stored locally remains on your device unless you remove it, clear it, uninstall the extension, or Chrome removes it according to browser behavior.

8. Voluntary Donations

QuietDigest™ is currently offered free of charge.

If we provide a donation or support link, any donation is entirely voluntary and is not required to use the current version of QuietDigest™.

If you choose to make a donation, the donation may be processed by a third-party payment or fundraising provider. QuietDigest™ does not require donation information in order to function. Any information you submit in connection with a donation will be governed by the privacy policy and terms of the applicable third-party provider, except to the extent we directly receive information from you.

9. Data Sharing

We do not sell or rent your information.

We do not share selected text or summary content with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.

We may disclose information if required to comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request, or to protect the rights, safety, security, and integrity of our users, our business, or others.

10. Data Retention

Because QuietDigest™ is designed for local use, most handled information remains on your device.

We retain only the information necessary to operate, maintain, or support QuietDigest™, consistent with this Privacy Policy and applicable law.

11. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect information handled by QuietDigest™. However, no system, software, transmission method, or storage environment can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

12. Children's Privacy

QuietDigest™ is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

13. Your Choices

You can stop all further handling of information by uninstalling QuietDigest™.

You may also manage locally stored extension data through Chrome and browser controls where available.
